While there is no doubt that some inequalities still exist in the business world with regard to female entrepreneurs, there is at least a growing awareness that female led companies can be just as successful as those run by male counterparts.

While less financing is generally available to female entrepreneurs, there are a number of grants which vary between $500 and $100,000, which are available for applicants throughout the US.

Amber Grant Award

Every year since 1998, the Amber Grant foundation has been awarding a $500 grant to a business owned by a woman, and at the end of the year, there is an additional $1000-$2000 awarded to one of the winners of monthly grants.

Cartier Women’s Initiative Award

Since the year 2007, Cartier has offered a $100,000 prize money package to 15 women globally, and the winners are included in a press conference. In addition to the publicizing of their grant award, winning females are also provided with one-on-one business coaching, and are given access to the INSEAD Social Entrepreneurship 6-Day Executive Program.

#GIRLBOSS Foundation Grant

Two times each year, the #GIRLBOSS Foundation awards female entrepreneurs with a cash prize of $15,000. The winners must be able to demonstrate innovation and creativity, as well as business acumen and planning skills. There must also be financial need in the organization led by the female entrepreneur.

Halstead Bead Inc. Business Development Grant

Halstead Bead Inc. is a jewelry business supplier which provides an annual development grant to encourage female entrepreneurs to strive for financial independence. Since 2006 a package has been offered by the company worth around $8500, for the purpose of encouraging jewelry business startups.

Tory Burch Foundation Fellowship

Every year, as many as 10 female entrepreneur fellows are selected to be the recipients of a $10,000 grant, which is intended to be used for business education. In addition, the fellows are provided with one year of mentorship, a three-day workshop, and the chance to win an extra $100,000 in a yearly Fellows Competition.
